It's a Girl
On Monday, December 8, 2008 the Peycke family received the blessed news that they are expecting a baby girl! Kay is 20 weeks pregnant (about half way through her pregnancy) and finally has the worst of her morning sickness behind her! Her due date is April 27, 2009. Soon Drew (18 months) will have a sweet baby sister to look out for.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Kay and her precious bundle of joy! Please continue to pray for the Peycke family as they prepare for this new addition to their family!

Madrigal Singers
Sunday, November 30, 2008, our worhsip service featured the Madrigal Singers of Lincoln Way High School. They were a delightful musical treat for our congregation as the Christmas season officially began! Each student present had a fun, colorful constume and a beautiful voice that made their performance most enjoyable! This was the second time these students performed for our congregation.

Thank you to all of the Madrigal Singers who came out and performed for us. Parker Road Bible Church always welcomes you to come and share your gifts and talents with us!

A Fresh Coat of Paint
Saturday, October 18, 2008, Parker Road Bible Church had an official church work day. Volunteers came out and gave our hallways a beautiful, fresh coat of paint! While walls remain bare for a short while, there are many plans to help give our building a fresh new look that is warmer and more inviting for guests as well as members.

A very special thank you to everyone who came out and worked hard on Saturday! The walls look great and we appreciate your service and dedication!

Missionary Conference Recap
Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th we were pleased to have some of our missionaries in town to take part in a Mission Conference. The weekend was spent in fellowship as we gather together to show support for these missionaries and the tremendous work they take part in each year.

On Sunday during our worship service we heard from our missionaries who have spread the message of God's love locally as well as in other countries. We watched videos, viewed Power Point presentations and family photos brought by our missionaries. After the service everyone was invited to stay for a special luncheon. Each of our missionaries set up their booth filled with information, pictures, active web sites, and one even had free musical CDs!

It was a wonderful weekend and Parker Road feels very blessed to support so many caring missionaries throughout the world! Please check out our Missionaries page located under PRBC Attenders for more information about our missionaries.

Worship in the Park Recap
On Sunday, August 10th we had our annual Worship in the Park worship service and picnic. As Pastor Scott noted, the church is not simply the building where people gather to worship, instead the church is the body of believers who gather in Christ's name to worship our Heavenly Father. Once a year we gather as a church to worship God among His beautiful outdoor creations.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make this gathering a complete and total success!  The weather was comfortable, the message was inspiring, the food was delicious, and the company was perfect!  Once again, Worship in the Park was a blessed event and we would like to thank everyone for coming out and making it a wonderful day!

New Orleans Recap
From Monday, July 7th to Saturday, July 12th we had a team that took part in a mission trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, as planned by Mission Committe Chairman, Dr. Bryan Counts. While in New Orleans they stayed comfortably at Berean Bible Church with another group of about 20 from Maine. Thankfully, our group had a safe and very memoriable trip. Family and friends were in constant prayer as these seven individuals took time from their busy summer to help families repair homes that have been damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita back in August and September of 2005.

"You couldn't look down a neighborhood street without seeing a home that was damaged," says Karolyn Koval, Parker Road's Office Secretary and one of the seven who attended this trip. "While most are very optimistic, it was still heartbreaking to see them struggle to make ends meet while trying to repair their home. Many homes had water waist hight or higher!"

During their stay in New Orleans, the group got a tour of the Levy that broke and the 9th Ward where most of the damage was done. "We saw foundations with no home attatched and serveral homes that were not even touched since the first hurricane," says Koval. She and her group listened intently as they viewed homes that still need to be gutted and homes that had holes in the roof to rescue families and individuals from their attics.

Dr. Counts along with Chris Manser and Kathleen Koval gave moving testimonies with photos during the Missions Moment of our Sunday worship service.

Thank you to those who kept these seven in your prayers while they were in New Orleans. Your prayers made a difference in the mission this team took part in. Please be in prayer for the families and individuals who are living in trailers and have a risk of losing their trailer before their home is ready to be moved in to.

Homer Glen Parade
On June 28 we took part in the Homer Glen Parade. Together we designed and bulit a wonderful float for the parade. Thanks to our church family, we passed out enough candy to keep local dentists busy for the next couple of weeks. Besides candy, we also passed out 1,000 New Testiment Bibles as well as tracks and additional information on the church. God blessed us with beauitful weather, so we could not ask for a more perfect day for a parade!

Next week we are sending out a group to New Orleans to work on homes that have been damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Please be in prayer as many details are being finalized and for the safe travels of those who are going.

VBS Power Lab
This year's Vacation Bible School theme was entitled VBS Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power! The session took place last week, June 16th - 20th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Children from our church as well as from the surronding neighborhoods came out each night to sing songs, play games, create cafts, take part in experiments, and hear about Jesus Christ's love for each and every one of them!

Parker Road Bible Church would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who made VBS possible! Wether you lead a group, dontated snacks and/or supplies, decorated, or found your own special way to contribute your talents we would just like to say thank you! VBS was made possible by the leaders and volunteers and we know that the children enjoyed their time spent at Parker Road's VBS!

Something from Jessie Recap
The Something from Jessie Spaghetti Dinner was a total success! Weather may have challeneged us, but God came through (as usual) and everything worked out beautifully. The food was delicious, the desserts were amazing, the Moonwalk stood up to the wind, and Evan's plane landed safe and sound in Chicago! Together we worked for God's glory to help send inner city students to Phantom Ranch Bible Camp!

The entire evening was hopping with action and excitement! From delicious food to fellowship with friends... from bouncin' in the Moonwalk to meeting an American Gladiator champion... from praise and worship from a live praise band to free door prizes... there was always something for everyone to be a part of!

Evan Dollard, aka "Rocket" from American Gladiator, was a wonderful additon to this year's Spaghetti Dinner. He took the time to sign autogrpahs, take pictures, and share his testimony during the program. Evan was a camper and staff member at Phantom Ranch and was also on staff when Jessie was on staff in 1999.

If you're still interested in making a donation to this cause please contact the church office for more information. 100% of all donations go toward the Something from Jessie Memorial Scholarship and are tax deductable! Thank you for your support!
