ABOUT OUR WORSHIP TEAMWorship is more than music. There are a lot of important aspects that go into our worship team — both up front and behind the scenes. If you're musically gifted and want to help lead others in worship, the music team is looking for you! Vocalists and musicians are welcome to share their talents. For those who feel more comfortable working behind the scenes, consider serving on our audio/visual team. Got an ear for sound? Know your way around PowerPoint and other creative software? The A/V Team wants you!
If music isn't your thing, consider serving as an usher, greeter, or Scripture reader. Rather than looking for a performance, what pleases God most is when his people serve each other in love. |

WORSHIP TEAM ROLES
AUDIO/VISUAL
If you want to be part of the worship team but don't want to be on stage, our A/V Team is the place for you. In order for things to run smoothly on stage, our worship team requires an A/V Team that knows what the music team is playing. Our A/V Team members attend each worship practice to operate our soundboard and computer system for the music team. No matter what experience you may have with similar equipment, all A/V Team members are properly instructed and trained prior to operating equipment during a worship service. This includes sitting in on practice sessions, shadowing a current A/V Team member, and finally using the equipment during a service while being supervised by a current A/V Team member. |
MUSICIAN
No matter what instrument you play, your talent will be appreciated during our worship service. Just like a vocalist, it is the musician's job to know the music prior to any practice sessions. If a musician is in need of sheet or tab music, it is the responsibility of the musician to communicate this with the worship leader so that proper music can be provided — with enough time for the musician to practice. Each week the music team varies at Parker Road. Some weeks there will be a full band, while other weeks there will be a solo musician playing the music. So no matter your comfort, we will plug you in to a week that allows you to play your instrument(s) with confidence. |
VOCALIST
Sopranos, altos, tenors, and bass singers are all welcome on our worship team. Do you know how to sing harmony? Are you confident in singing a solo for special music? Excellent! No matter what your level of singing experience may be, vocalists of all types are encouraged to join our music team. All vocalists assist the worship leader by joining forces to lead the congregation in music. Once the worship leader presents a vocalist with the playlist, it's time to start practicing and learning the lyrics on your own. Being familiar with the music before practice always helps things run smoothly for all who are involved. |
WORSHIP TEAM DIRECTOR
Each week our Worship Team Director, Sam Choi, selects and prepares music for the Sunday worship service. Music is influenced by the sermon and current or up-coming holidays. A playlist is typically given to the worship team the week of the actual service, unless requested earlier. This gives everyone on the team time to prepare for the songs they're going to sing and/or play. Sometimes things come up and schedules modify practice dates and times, so it is also the responsibility of the director to coordinate any schedule adjustments to make sure everyone gets the proper amount of time to practice before Sunday's worship service. All schedule changes must be run past Sam as soon as possible. |
