Sunday, March 17th at 12:00 PMPlease join us at Parker Road Bible Church for a Chili Cook-Off, Live Auction, & Bake Sale on March 17th. PRBC has held this event over the years to benefit different causes and/or families. This year we are grateful to have all proceeds benefit Trevor Pavey and Family. We want to bless Trevor and his family abundantly.
Trevor Pavey is 18 years old and is a 4 time cancer warrior. He started his battle with brain cancer in November 2016. His dad and mom, Dave and Michelle, and his brothers, Jonah and Owen have walked with him every step of the way. Please more about Trevor below. If you are unable to attend, please take this opportunity to support the Paveys financially. Please click the link below to be directed to their GoFundMe page. |
Trevor's Story
Trevor Pavey is a 4 time cancer warrior. He started his battle with brain cancer in November 2016. After radiation and chemotherapy, we celebrated his completion 11 months later, assuming wrongly that the journey God chose to use to bring him to salvation was over.
Summer of 2020 we found a second tumor and he began brain cancer treatment again for another 18 months. Unfortunately, because the treatment he had received carried the risks of creating other cancers, he developed leukemia.
In September of 2022, Trevor underwent a bone marrow transplant. In all these treatments and therapies he had the Lord standing with him. Again, we thought his trials were over.
June 2023 we learned his transplant was unsuccessful and would require another donation, and we were warned that this time it wouldn’t be as “kind” as his prior treatments.
Difficult doesn’t describe his journey. October 11 he received an anonymous donation from a kind stranger on the bone marrow registry. If anyone is at all eligible, please consider registering. It’s free and easy at www.dkms.org.
It was God’s grace that there was a match available, but because it was a non-family member, he had to undergo a much more severe conditioning to prepare. That also predisposed him to the absolute worst side effects he's ever experienced in all seven years combined.
As it stands today, Trevor is working hard to regain some of what has been lost. He has therapy multiple times a week. His blood vessels in his limbs and brain have been compromised and he has multiple teams working to bring that to resolution. He has physical issues that affect his mental status. He has stamina, balance, and concentration issues as well.
The worst of it is that his diagnosis rocked his faith. After so long battling something he never would have chosen, it became very hard to even seek God for relief. If we didn’t have such a large community to turn to for prayer and support, we would have had a much harder time in the darkest moments.
For now we await the restoration God has promised as we walk the road ahead.
Thank you,
The Paveys
